The Alkmaar Weigh House is one of the few remaining weigh houses still in use. These public buildings were generally built prior to 1800, and were utilized in the weighing of goods in order to determine the tax levy to be implemented, thus they were often erected in or near town centers. Between 1550 and 1690, those
